Tauhara is centrally located 12 min drive from Taupo town at the heart of the North Island on five hectares of hill top overlooking Acacia Bay, Lake Taupo, New Zealand.

Tauhara offers the quiet charm of a pastoral setting within ten minutes easy access to all that Taupo offers as a prime tourist destination.

You are welcome to visit Tauhara and use the facilities such as the library and the sanctuary if there is not a group in residence. 'Phone us first to arrange a time.

Transport

Whether you plan to arrive by air (Taupo Airport 378-5428), or via Intercity or Newman's coach (0800-731-711 to book) at the Travel Centre (378-9032), the cheapest as well as the easiest way to get to Tauhara is through Shuttle 2U on 0800 54 6628 or 07 376-7638. They currently (August 2009) charge only $5, but they do get very busy for obvious reasons, so we suggest you book in advance. Other operators can charge $30 - $55 for the same trip. Other transport providers are Go Cabs 378-5886, Taupo Taxis 378-5100, Top Cab 378-9250 and Taupo Airport Shuttle 0800-654-875 [Note: if you are ‘phoning from outside Taupo, use the toll call pre-fix 07 before the local number.]

Alternatively, a bus service operates Monday to Friday (Taupo Connector), from Tongariro Street at 10.25 am and 1.25 pm to Acacia Bay (Besley Pl).
Cost : $1.50 single trip, $2 return trip.
Please note : there is still quite a steep climb from the bus stop up Mapara Road to get to Acacia Heights Drive and the Centre.
